Inspiring Collaboration: Jungkook Fans Unite with Philippine Red Cross to Save Lives
In a heartwarming display of community spirit and compassion, fans of BTS member Jungkook, known as the "Jungkookies," teamed up with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) for a life-saving initiative. On August 24, 2024, the fan group organized a blood donation event titled "Golden X Unity: United to Save Lives" at the PRC Logistics and Multipurpose Center.
The event, held in anticipation of Jungkook’s 27th birthday on September 1, 2024, was more than just a fan gathering. It was a celebration of humanity and solidarity, where admiration for Jungkook was transformed into a powerful humanitarian effort aimed at saving lives.
The Power of Fandom to Drive Positive Change
PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon expressed his gratitude to the organizers and BTS fans, saying, "Blood donors are heroes. I’d like to thank the organizers of this bloodletting event and all the BTS fans for joining us in saving lives. This event is proof of the power of fandom to drive positive change."
Dr. Gwen Pang, PRC Secretary General, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining a vital blood supply. She noted that support from groups like the Jungkookies is invaluable in helping the PRC achieve its mission.
Remarkable Achievements
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., ARMYs and walk-in donors gathered to participate in the bloodletting activity, resulting in 143 blood units collected that day. Since the inception of this joint initiative in 2022, a total of 401 blood units have been collected, showcasing the significant impact fandoms can have when they unite for a noble cause.
